WHAT IS IT?
BDCircle, presented by AKM productions at Ancient Art Studios, is a peer-run performance venue. 6-month memberships and dues cover the costs enabling dancers of all levels to utilize:
- Live band performance opportunities featuring traditional music played by live musicians. This performance venue takes place every other month at the Ancient Art Studios and is free from commercial pressures, such as, club owners’ demands and “not enough slots”. All members will enjoy 3 performance opportunities with a live band within their 6 month membership.
- Improvised performances (2 minutes) to recorded traditional belly dance music at members-only, closed gatherings, on non band months. The non band month gatherings provide peer support and also include a members-only, up-close and personal interview with a local dancer of iconic stature. The group meets on Friday nights, once per month, and has a private facebook page for members’ communication between meetings and shows. A google folder with details about the history of the group and how it runs also exists.
WHO COMES TO THE LIVE BAND DANCE SHOWS?
Men, women, children, dancers, and non-dancers, are invited. Please come to the parties with the live band every other month.

Harry Bedrossian – keys
Ron Sahatjian – clarinet
Art Chingris – drum
WHO ARE THE BDCIRCLE DANCERS?
There are slots for dancers brand new to live band performance. There are also slots for dancers who aspire to dance a full-length, “headliner” show.
WHAT THIS IS NOT
Please note: The BDCircle is not a technique class or a replacement for classes with your teachers. Please use BDCircle as a place to grow your performance experience level and/or to keep your performance chops in use. Do not join if you are not intending to perform with the band. These slots are very precious and ought not be taken up unless to be used.
