BDSXpress empowers movement ability for all levels and styles. Though 10 weeks long (drop-ins welcome), the principles contained in BDSX are the lifelong essentials all dancers internalize for safe and fulfilling dancing. BDSX opens the minds and bodies to the drivers behind the movements through focusing weekly on technique, strength, and stamina issues as they pertain to specific moves in belly dance. For years of safe, supported, and magical movement in any style, for a stronger execution and physical confidence (no falling out of moves), and for more expressive, empowered, and fluent dancing, Belly Dance Strong (Xpress)!
Belly Dance Fundamentals
Absolute beginners with no prior dance experience, as well as those returning to dance, and even advanced level dancers seeking a refresh will enjoy delving into the magical foundational steps, torso movements, and postures of the body, arms and hands. Stand-alone drills will nurture coordination, balance, strength and fluidity, while mini-combinations combine the sharp and super smooth movements with the rich, transportive music of belly dance. Classical props (finger cymbals, veil, and assaya: cane/stick) will also be explored as well as cultural context delivered via fun field trip opportunities, introductions to the icons of the art form, and the instruments and rhythms which drive our music.
