Belly Dance Strong is for all levels and drop ins are welcome.
Whether tuning the body for a full night of dance or seeking deeper focused body work and dance studies, BDS is a great time to digest, internalize, and empower the body for freedom and expression.
Pre Class: The lights will be low and soothing music playing. Come early, stretch out on our mats, and breathe deeply. Feel free to roll your muscles out with our foam rollers, massage your muscles with our tennis balls, release the day, hug a friend, and honor yourself.
Warm up: Follow Aurel as you prepare the body with safe and delicious movements including gentle circling of the joints, balance barre, “Moving and Posing”, thera-bands, combos to music, challenging micro-circuits, and use of your own body weight as a strengthener.
BDS classes identify and savor the luxury and power of contracting and elongating muscles, the magic of of body lines and alignment, and the internal meaning and personal expression potential in our movements.
Studies focus on movements from traditional belly dance genres which Aurel performs and continues to explore on her journey including foundational movements of American Cabaret style and Raqs Sharqi aka Egyptian style including Baladi, Folkloric, and Shaabi.
No matter your favorite style, it pays to meditate on your movements building the strength and familiarity needed to release artistry and the many layers of intention which long to flow freely.
