A great warm up for a night of dance. A useful template for personal dance prep at home. A clarifying and delightful time to digest, internalize, and empower favorite movements. A pathway to healthy posture, limber joints, toning muscles and awareness for optimum balance and health. A set of keys for releasing effortless movement as muscles, skeletal structure, and the emotional and spiritual expression are opened and invited to work with each other.
Pre Class:Free free to come early, sink into the low-lit environment, unwind your mind, and tap into the marvel that is the body.
Roll your muscles out with our foam rollers, massage your muscles with tennis balls, release the day, hug a friend, breathe deeply and stretch out on our mats.
Warm up:Follow Aurel as you strengthen, lengthen, and prepare for emotional and intentional conductivity.
Legs and glutes, abs and torso, feet and ankles, arms and back, and cardiovascular system will be awakened for safe and delicious movement through gentle circling of the joints, balance barre, “Moving and Posing”, thera-bands, combos to music, challenging micro-circuits, use of your own body weight, and more. An evening of joyful and safe movement to follow!
BDS classes identify and savor the contracting muscles, the elongating sensations, and the internal meaning of individual movements pulling from the three belly dance categories which Aurel performs and continues to explore on her journey:
Foundational movements of American Cabaret style,
Turkish style movements including quintessential contributions of iconic Turkish dancers and the Karshlima including Romany-inspired movement,
and Raqs Sharqi aka Egyptian style including Baladi, Folkloric, and Shaabi.
No matter your favorite style, it pays to meditate on your movements, to unblock and unlock your bodies’ arsenal of ability, nuance, variation, and the many layers of intention which can be applied. Your personal dance expression, at home or shared with others in performance, can become an effortless cascade of developing motifs that lead to artistic fulfillment and a healthy lifestyle.
