Escape the MundaneEmbrace the MovementExplore the Possibilities

A free accountability club. February 6th – April 30th
Free to all levels of currently enrolled* Ancient Art Studios’ students and open to all others.
Meet and Greet Reception Kickoff via  Zoom on February 6th 1:00PM-1:45PM.

*Students currently holding a Class Pass or enrolled in a monthly membership, welcome to The Luscious Lounge at no charge!

Inspiring each other to keep moving, members post videos in a private Facebook page showing themselves dancing any movement, style, or theme they choose.

Videos, as short at 10 seconds or as long as the student prefers, are encouraged two times a week (each student chooses own days).
The main function of the group is to support each other in developing a luscious few moments of dance each week.

No critiquing. Only support for those showing up for themselves – unless a critique is solicited by the posting member.
Members choose their own dance objectives or react to their daily dance needs. Examples you might find compelling:
  • Taking time to simply appreciate the ability to move and be inside one’s body. Contract, elongate, enjoy moving.
  • Dancing for fitness. 4 songs often equals 20 minutes – a great cardio goal. Start with one song – it’s up to you.
  • Drilling a skill or prop that is compelling to you. Repetition builds coordination!
  • Communing through movement with your higher power i.e. dancing for spiritual purposes as in Sufi practices.
  • Nurturing sensitivity to musical phrases, sounds, and energetic shifts in the music.
  • Delighting in favorite moves at various tempos, in different directions, with layers, in different musical contexts.
  • Establishing a self-care habit which incorporates dance play, creativity, props, and expression.
  • Getting to know classic belly dance music.
  • Meditating on class materials.
  • Playing with improvisational techniques and concepts, such as; tension & release, floor patterns, traveling with stationary movements.
  • Creating a choreography for a show or just to explore what’s possible.
  • Flowing with whatever ideas present themselves to the body, mind, emotions, or spirit.
